Bill Lane

Bill Lane is a Melbourne-based visual artist working in constructed studio photography. His practice centers on figures staged among found and discarded objects, built through composite and rephotographed imagery. Drawing on posthumanism, Object-Oriented Ontology, and Actor-Network Theory, his work interrogates the entanglement of objects, spectacle, and masculinity under late capitalism — treating theoretical questions as material to be staged rather than explained. His images function as constructed scenes: assemblages that hold their conceptual claims within the frame itself. Lane has exhibited since 1992, and his work is held in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria.
