Byron Maldonado is a Guatemalan documentary photographer from San Lucas Tolimán currently based in the United States.
His work is deeply influenced by his early career stage where he took pictures of his hometown and developed several mission projects, with his photographs he has discovered how people can connect with different communities and their way of living.
Furthermore, that has motivated the artist to amplify his vision and try to reach a broader audience by sharing the stories through international platforms such as SeeMe.
“Photographs not only capture a moment, they tell a story. They can also have a concrete impact on people's lives. “
Maldonado’s work has had a positive impact in the communities as his artistic practice translated into more individuals connecting, visiting, and supporting the Mission's work he engages with.
“An image can capture a moment, express something about our humanity, at that moment when words are not enough.”
