HISAYASU TAKASHIO

Hisayasu Takashio is a Japanese artist based in New York City.  His work ranges from paintings, large scale prints and mixed media drawings, to sculpture, installation, and collaborative performance.

Takashio’s work deeply explores the subject of the human hands; he exposes renderings of these combined with a symphony of natural forms and human anatomy. He sculpts using cast fiberglass, wood, and other natural materials that are both textural and intentionally evocative with the intent to unlock a viewer's unconscious associations.

Takashio received a B.A. in Fine Arts from the Design School of Tokyo and later a Fine Arts certificate in Sculpture and Printmaking from the Art Students League of New York.  He has been actively creating and exhibiting his work in the USA, Germany, Iceland and Venezuela since 1991.
