Jonathan Rosen

Jonathan Rosen is a text-based visual artist who works with mixed-media collage and interactive digital technologies.  Through these, he explores his interest in human desire and dream-manifestation. Rosen received a B.A. from the University of Florida and an M.S. from VCU Brandcenter for advertising – launching the next 10 years of his career as an award-winning advertising creative and commercial film director.

Since his transition to fine art, Rosen has had exhibitions in NYC, Sydney, Taipei, Paris, Hong Kong. He has recently participated in museum shows in Shanghai, Chengdu, Florida, and at the Smithsonian in DC. Rosen is currently exhibiting at the Museum of Sex in NYC, the Artron Art Museum in Shenzhen, and The Museum Kitchener, Ontario. His work lives in collections around the world – including pieces in the permanent collections of The LiveStrong Foundation, Bloomingdales, Pandora Music, and Colette in Paris. Rosen is also the founder and CEO of Artsparkr, an art-tech startup that helps artists of all disciplines find sought-after creative opportunities. After living overseas in London, Amsterdam, and Sydney, Rosen pursues his passions full time in New York City, the city in which he was born.

“My practice examines language’s ability to create, question, imagine, empower, divide and destroy. Through words, I am a collector and cataloguer of human possibilities – the good, the bad, and everything in between. My Dream Machines act as self-discovery tools to unlock the subconscious. On the surface of the mirror, a thousand phrases flash randomly. When a viewer stands before the mirror and takes a photo, a single message is frozen over the viewer’s reflection. Without judgment, the mirrors can see us for who we truly are or can be.”
