LIAH CASPI

Liah Caspi is a mixed media artist based in Northern New Jersey, USA. Her paintings are deeply personal and reflect her own journey through a significant career shift in middle age. As a woman navigating this shift, she is acutely aware of the challenges and opportunities that come with embracing new beginnings. Much of her work communicates personal truths and reveals glimpses of her journey through visual metaphors. Her subjects are primarily women, which she sees as a semi-reflective surface, and the surrounding items in her paintings are powerful representations of metaphoric ideas and life experiences.

Growing up in Israel, Caspi was surrounded by the complexities of WWII and a melting pot of cultures, as well as the challenges of depression and divorce in her own family. Painting became an outlet for expression that was difficult to convey through other means. When she's not painting, Caspi is a toy designer and has received a Toy of The Year (TOTY) nomination for her work. She studied Illustration at the Art Institute of Boston and later attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she majored in Interior Design and found a passion in the Toy Design department. Many of her toys offer girls a creative outlet, providing a positive environment aimed at inspiring children's creativity.
