LIVIA MONAMI©

Livia Monami is an Italian journalist and photographer. Since 1989, her practice has focused on documenting the fragility of culture, focusing mainly on the indigenous people of nomadic descent, whose cultures hang on the verge of extinction.

Her recent photographs focus on the coldest places on earth, namely Siberia. In her practice, she resides with tribes for months on end in order to authentically capture their daily lives. Being fully immersed in their culture, she is able to break through the cultural barriers, and is able to deliver authentic imagery to the rest of the world. By exploring these cultures in such an immersive way, she is able to capture what she defines as “the priceless treasures of humanity”.

Her reportages have been published by major international presses including National Geographic Traveler, and she has become the spokesperson for intercultural lectures in schools for 25 years.
