Lolette Smith
Lolette Smith is a South African interdisciplinary visual artist whose practice explores perception, communication and the relationship between the visible and unseen. Working across installation, digital media and experimental forms, she gives visual expression to phenomena beyond ordinary human perception.
She holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts from UNISA and has an extensive career in visual arts education, including teaching at secondary and tertiary levels, mentoring at UNISA, directing an art college and heading visual arts departments. Her longstanding engagement with the Deaf community and South African Sign Language has profoundly influenced her understanding of visual communication.
