TOMAS CARVAJAL
Tomas Carvajal is a visual artist in training at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. In high school, Carvajal won an award for his research based on creation as a method of investigation in the field of visual arts, which led him to pursue a career in arts and humanities. He currently works on memory, oblivion, and trauma, through his concept of the repressed through symbolic representation in sculpture, installation, and drawing in graphite, rapidograph, colored pencils, and charcoal.
The line supports the reconstruction and deconstruction of the self. The continuous line realizes the meaning of the repressed. The linear traces built us, and with their poetry, we are formed; those that emerge give us a light on our path; however, they remain inhibited.
Carvajal considers art an opportunity to embrace the complex layers of experiences, sensations, and other realities of being. He currently lives and studies in Bogotá, Colombia.
