A Blight On The Landscape

A commonplace black plastic garbage bag, set against a lush, verdant landscape, is transformed into an object of unexpected significance through a meticulously painted trompe-l'œil gilt-wood frame rendered directly onto the canvas. This artistic device lends the subject an air of historical importance, challenging our perceptions of waste, beauty, and value. As the second work in this series of faux-framed paintings, it continues an exploration of how context shapes meaning, inviting viewers to reconsider the consequences of human consumption and its impact on the natural world.
