Amaru May’s hand-woven textile merges the structural rigor of geometric abstraction with the vibrant craft traditions of Latin America. Rendered in tightly interlocking chevron motifs of bright orange and deep blue, the work creates an optical rhythm that vibrates across the linen surface. This visual tension mirrors May's thematic focus on shifting perception and the multifaceted nature of identity. Drawing from her Mexican heritage and travels, the artist roots these abstract patterns in a slow, tactile process. The weaving frames belonging not as a fixed physical location, but as an ongoing negotiation of cultural layers.
