Baroque Mode

*Baroque Mode*, the second piece created during DonCee Coulter’s European residency, originated in Dresden as a recreation of the city's iconic Frauenkirche. As the project expanded, Coulter constructed an idealized, fantastical cityscape from meticulously layered leather, suede, and metallic textiles. Using an X-acto knife to execute precise, architectural cuts, he translates the ornate vocabulary of Baroque design into a deeply tactile fabric collage. The resulting composition merges recognizable historical monuments with imaginative civic spaces, anchoring architectural fantasy in the physical grain of his materials.
