In *Beyond the Cosmos*, Edward continues his rigorous exploration of sculptural abstraction, marrying the aggressive materiality of Abstract Expressionism with his formal background in architectural design. Operating as a self-described "twenty-first-century primitive," the artist builds dense stratigraphies of deep indigo, vivid crimson, and striking yellow before physically excavating the wet surface. Foregoing traditional brushes for sticks and knives, he employs a severe sgraffito technique to carve a rigid, cross-hatched grid into the thick pigment. This structural scoring slices through chaotic fields of color, exposing heavy impasto and the raw weave of the canvas beneath. The resulting surface functions as a highly tactile artifact, fulfilling the artist's intent to forge a symbolic, tribal visual language through the forceful accumulation and subtraction of matter.
