Anne-Marie Delaunay-Danizio experiments with three-dimensional space by folding vivid, painted cutouts and pinning them to a canvas before sewing them into place. The resulting composition recalls a taxonomy of internal organs, plants, or rocks scattered across a vertical plane. Drawing on the material legacy of feminist soft sculpture, the artist pushes her abstract expressionist roots off the flat surface. By lifting these biomorphic shapes into physical relief, Delaunay-Danizio creates an embodied landscape that dissolves the boundaries between human biology and the nonhuman environment.
