Artwork Details
Driven by the foundational principle that any material can be crafted to a specific purpose, this work presents a formalist interpretation of a rail junction from San Francisco’s historic Beltline Railway. Carved from poplar and finished with a weathered patina, the stylized tracks rest against a richly grained mahogany base, isolating the exact mechanical node where a train shifts its route. By translating heavy industrial infrastructure into meticulously shaped wood, the artist enacts a structural and material inversion, reducing functional engineering to a minimalist study of tapering geometry and tactile contrast.
