Donut

Gabriella Anouk takes a tiny, plastic Barbie donut and blows it up into a massive, eye-catching artwork, drawing the entire image by hand using only colored pencils. She plays with size and artificial textures, carefully capturing the glossy pink icing and colorful sprinkles so realistically that they look like a photograph. Placed against a stark white background, this ordinary toy suddenly feels like a bold, three-dimensional sculpture. By making a small plaything huge, Gabriella mixes everyday culture with fine art, using her deep understanding of light and reflection to trick our eyes into seeing an actual physical object sitting on the flat paper.
