Amaru May’s hand-woven textiles materialize her engagement with cultural memory through precise geometric constructions. Working in cotton and linen, she builds high-contrast formations that draw formal lineage from traditional Latin American craft and architecture. The diptych presents a dialogue between shifting scales, where serrated teal diamonds and vibrant orange zig-zags expand and contract across the two frames. This slow, tactile accumulation of thread allows May to examine the tension between the familiar and the unfamiliar, anchoring her explorations of complex, layered identity directly into the physical warp and weft of the fabric.
