Fading

In "Fading," Sherry employs the aggressive, textural brushwork of Abstract Expressionism to address the displacement and cultural erosion of Native American communities. A central visage emerges from a turbulent vortex of heavy blue and oxidized red impasto. The sweeping, concentric application of metallic gold and white acrylic physically enacts the enduring spirit of these populations. By prioritizing intuitive marks over literal depiction, the canvas materializes profound historical loss, grounding the artist’s narrative in mid-century painterly traditions.
