Follow Through captures the quiet moment after action has been completed, when intention gives way to uncertainty. The shooter's hand remains extended long after the basketball has left the fingertips—a gesture that no longer influences the outcome, yet embodies discipline, confidence, and trust in the process. It is a posture of commitment, held in the space between effort and result. A former collegiate basketball player, Maloy draws upon the physical language of sport to explore broader themes of resilience, faith, and surrender. The follow-through becomes more than an athletic technique; it is a universal gesture that reflects the human experience of releasing control while remaining connected to hope. Constructed from reclaimed leather and textile fragments originally discarded during the footwear design and prototyping process, the work transforms materials once intended for movement into a permanent record of movement itself. Through stitching and assembly, each fragment carries traces of its previous purpose while contributing to a new image. Follow Through reflects on the moments when our greatest act is not doing more, but trusting what has already been set in motion.
