Fractal in the Sky

Drawing on her background in environmental design, Lee-Johnson explores the beauty of fractal ruins, uncovering complex geometry within the decay of weathered brick and jagged plaster walls. In this work, the remaining architecture serves as a tangible memory of what once was, inviting the viewer's imagination to extend the foundation into something purer and free the eye from the constraints of a fixed building. The brightly painted, fragmented archways act as a threshold, prompting the audience to envision the lives and eras that once occupied the space. Ultimately, the combination of structural ruin and human imagination proves that physical decay does not diminish a building—it simply adds a profound, historical dimension to its original space.
