Goose and Gosling

Working in his signature high realist style, Allan O'Marra captures a Canada goose and her gosling navigating rippled blue currents. Drawing from reference photography taken near his Ontario lake home, the meticulously painted water highlights his decades-long dedication to closely observed naturalism. O'Marra noted that this seemingly peaceful scene carried an underlying tension, aware that the local waters harbored vicious pike. The fragility of the small yellow bird is starkly apparent beside the protective bulk of the adult goose—a vulnerability confirmed when the gosling disappeared the very next day.
