Loneliness

I wanted to explore the experience of isolation within the urban landscape. I placed a solitary figure at the bottom of the composition, surrounded by towering buildings and rigid geometric structures, making it almost invisible. Its diminutive scale, together with the stark contrast of black and white, emphasizes the city's overwhelming power, scale, and anonymity, while reinforcing the individual's sense of emptiness and emotional distance within the urban environment. Although power lines and illuminated windows suggest the presence of life, the figure remains disconnected from its surroundings, conveying a sense of solitude and the search for belonging in an impersonal space. For me, the urban landscape becomes an architecture of memory, where familiar buildings preserve traces of lived experience, reminding us that places continue to shape our identity long after we have left them.
