1/4" industrial wool felt, 1/8" designer wool felt, needle felted wool, a variety of threads, grommets. Yvette Kaiser Smith constructs wall-based geometric abstractions that engage the legacies of Minimalism and fiber art through a mathematics-driven formalism. In this piece, coarse industrial felt serves as both ground and structural plane, punctuated by starkly delineated shapes in blue and cream. The precise placement of these circular forms is dictated by numerical sequences, translating abstract data into tangible spatial relationships. Minimal red stitching introduces a drawing-like linearity that contrasts with the dense texture of the felt, anchoring the composition while exposing the work's constructed nature.
