4.7mm acrylic felt, 1/4" industrial wool felt, Burel, Sashiko and cotton threads, grommets, roofing nail. Yvette Kaiser Smith structures layered industrial felt into a rigid, wall-based geometric abstraction that bridges the lexicons of painting, textile, and sculpture. Drawing on Constructivist principles of color blocking, flat planes of charcoal, cream, dark red, and brown are stacked and anchored by a single metal grommet. A delicate line of orange embroidery bisects the dominant brown field, hinting at the mathematical sequences and structural systems that dictate her compositional logic. In the lower right quadrant, a projecting cylinder of rolled felt abruptly breaks the two-dimensional picture plane, physically asserting the material's sculptural mass.
