The Fig Tree Constellation

Sonia Redfern draws on her background in astronomy and physics to map a glowing constellation directly onto vivid green leaves. Painted in bright, opaque colors against a highly textured dark background, the foliage is connected by crisp black lines and white stars that mimic a celestial chart. This precise geometric overlay contrasts with the natural, organic growth of the plant and its small purple buds. By placing a map of the night sky onto earthly flora, Redfern visually connects the grounded reality of our natural environment to the vast, encompassing scale of the wider universe.
