The Heart Remembers Freedom

Eilis Soto situates this portrait within a magical realist framework, seamlessly merging human physiology with botanical symbolism. A large anatomical heart anchors the composition, its arterial vessels softening into expressive blooms of pink and plum roses. Beside this organic cluster, a woman rests with closed eyes, her profile framed by a white dove and pale floral motifs. Soto incorporates delicate lace stenciling into the pastel background, building a textured surface that grounds the surreal imagery. By fusing the exposed organ with natural forms, the artist visualizes internal states of vulnerability and spiritual renewal.
