The Ninth Horizon

A Folio from the Kingdom of Salt and Sleep From The Atlas of the Imaginal, this fragment describes the Ninth Horizon—a threshold where familiar maps dissolve and the boundaries between sky, sea, dream, and memory begin to merge. "It is written that beyond the eighth horizon the sea no longer carried ships, but dreams. There the winged ones descended to drink from the same waters as whales, and no creature asked whether it belonged to the sky or to the deep. Those who crossed into the Ninth Horizon returned unable to say where they had been, only that the world had become larger."
