Artwork Details
Drawing inspiration from Salvador Dalí’s 1973 holographic collaboration with Alice Cooper, Guidolin constructs a hybridized instrument of time and music. The mixed-media sculpture adopts the drooping morphology of Dalí’s melting watches, grafting a distorted, numbered clock face onto the body of an electric guitar. Mounted against a painted, minimalist horizon of blue and yellow, the surreal object grounds the tension of sustaining dual creative disciplines. The warped instrument physically embodies Guidolin’s observation that while a commerce-driven society consumes art, it frequently fails to support the alchemists who produce it.
