Where The Heart Runs Free

Eilis Soto situates her expressive painting within a magical realist framework, uniting equine portraiture with her recurring motif of the anatomical heart. The composition balances a white horse in profile, rendered with dynamic streaks of pale blue and pink, against a dense cluster of textured floral forms. Vibrant orange and rose-colored blooms emerge directly from the subtle, structural outline of an exposed heart in the upper right quadrant. By scratching faint cursive script into the deep indigo background, Soto embeds narrative into the physical surface, connecting the kinetic rhythm of the canvas to her ongoing exploration of spiritual awakening and resilience.
