In *Wind on the Water*, the artist merges the spatial discipline of architectural design with the fierce materiality of Abstract Expressionism. Approaching the canvas as an excavation site, the artist builds dense layers of vibrant yellow, deep indigo, and violet, aggressively scoring the wet pigment with sticks and knives. This self-described "primitive" methodology yields a deeply gouged, sgraffito texture where sweeping, arced striations cut across horizontal color fields. The continuous scraping physically translates the titular atmospheric disturbance, capturing the chaotic friction of a gale tearing across a turbulent surface.
