You Are My Sunny Place

In *You Are My Sunny Place*, Sherry merges expressive portraiture with the intuitive mark-making of Abstract Expressionism. A luminous face constructed from thick layers of warm yellow and ochre emerges against a fractured ground of cool blues and greens. This textured brushwork builds physical volume on the canvas while dissolving the figure into its abstract surroundings. Rooted in the artist's exploration of tranquility and trusted friendship, the high-key palette recalls Fauvist sensibilities, using contrasting hues to suggest an uplifted mood. Through these bold material choices, the resulting figure remains a direct, calm, yet slightly otherworldly presence.
